Wire making from copper is a very complicated process. First, the copper is melted and poured into molds to make large bars known as billets. These billets are then re-heated and rolled into longer, thinner strips. The strips are then pulled though machines that stretch and thin the material into long, shiny wires. QC work is very important in a copper wire factory. “Workers need to verify that the wires are the correct size and shape, free of scratches or dents. If a wire is discovered to be defective, it is plucked from the assembly line and melted down in order to be reused. That’s so only the best wires are shipped out to all different kinds of products.
With the increasing number of electronic products being made, the need for copper wires increases.
